BIO

Richard is an experienced and innovative

shooting PD and BAFTA Cymru (2019)

nominated DoP specialising in

natural history and factual documentary.

Over his career Richard has had the opportunity to travel extensively and work with some of the very best on screen talent including:

Sir David Attenborough, Tom Hiddleston, Steve Backshall, Chris Tarrant, Alesha Dixon, Leona Lewis,  Rob Bell, Mike Dilger, Dan Snow, Ben Garrod, Sylvia Earle, Clive Anderson, Dr George McGavin, Patrick Ayree and the late Terry Nutkins.

Richard started his career as an editor and worked for over 10 years delivering both TV documentary and feature Films to our screens.

During his time making films for wildlife charities he moved into filming and directing and started specialising in natural history documentary.

Having editing knowledge helps during filming as he is able to visualise the sequence whilst on location.  Richard combines that with being resourceful and quick-thinking when it comes to solving problems.

Richard enjoys challenging environments, and has experience leading a team on location.  One of his key skills is his ability to maintain a positive and supportive attitude towards colleagues.

His work has been published in BBC WildLife Magazine and African Geographic Magazine.  In 2016 his work was highly commended at the British Wildlife Photography Awards.

His recent clients / work include: Channel 4, BBC1,  BBC2, BBC 1 Wales, Smithsonian, Animal Planet, Channel 5, Love Nature, Discovery.

"Richard is great. Really good shooter with a ton of imagination to make a simple scene stand out from the rest.

Got a mega thumbs up from the presenter he worked with who claimed he'd never felt so safe and included on a project before.

Richard is on my speed dial - so act fast if you want him".

Ed Booth, Series Producer

"From cows jumping for joy, rioting piglets and a ram with an identity crisis, Richard captured beautiful imagery of farm animals. His patience and anticipation was often rewarded with fascinating animal behaviour. Above all its Richard’s incredible versatility that makes him such an asset. He is also a brilliant drone operator, location director, set designer and editor. He’s also a top bloke - highly recommended!".

Rob Neil, Self-Shooting PD and Series Producer

Testimonials

"Richard has been a stalwart on our Wild Great Britain series for Channel 5. Always enthusiastic, always good-humoured, and always striving to produce top quality footage even on a tight schedule. He is versatile, filming equally well handheld, long lens and with his drone. He gets on well with contributors. He is a good team player, but also willing to work on his own. He can film wildlife and people. Coming from an editing background he has a good feel for sequence building. Many of his sequences are standouts in our series. I look forward to working with Richard again in the future and don't hesitate to recommend him".
